Wearable art, shaped by hand
Ruslanova Fashion House makes one-of-one garments from natural silk and merino wool, using a technique called nuno felting.
Wool is laid over woven silk and worked by hand with water and friction until the wool fibres migrate through the weave and the two materials become a single cloth. Nothing is cut and nothing is stitched. The shape, weight and surface of the garment are decided while the cloth is still being made.
The result behaves like neither fibre on its own. It drapes and catches light the way silk does, and holds warmth the way wool does, at a weight most winter garments never reach.
No two are alike
Fibre migration cannot be repeated exactly. Colour, pattern and texture come out differently every time, which is why each piece is offered as the only one of itself. When a colour shows one item available, the piece in the photograph is the piece you receive.
The hands behind it
The house was founded by designer Mahabat Samanchieva, who has worked in textiles for twenty-five years. Her work has been shown in Berlin, New Delhi, Ankara, Baku, Kuwait City and Dushanbe, where it received Best Costume of the Year in 2014, and most recently at DC Fashion Week in Washington in September 2026.
The technique belongs to the textile traditions of Central Asia and the Silk Road. The garments are not reproductions of traditional dress. Heritage is where the method comes from; the pieces themselves are made for how people dress now.
How we work
Ruslanova Fashion House is an online boutique based in Woodridge, Illinois, shipping across the United States. We work only at the scale one pair of hands allows. Ready-to-ship pieces are sold as they are finished, and custom pieces are made to order in about a month.
